ARMED SECURITY OFFICER / GUARD REQUIREMENTS FOR THE STATE OF TENNESSEE Class cost: $180.00 (16 hours) Training to become a Tennessee-certified armed security officer includes an examination covering specific subject materials. ARMED RE-CERTIFICATION     Class cost: $80.00 (4 hours) A re-certification for a Tennessee armed security officer must occur every two years. Every two (2) years armed security guards must complete 4 hours of refresher training and re-qualify in the use of a firearm by achieving a minimum of 70% on any silhouette target course approved by the commissioner prior to the renewal of their guard registration. Subject material covered in re-certification:  Firearms safety guidelines -- Function and operation of a firearm -- Basic marksmanship skills -- Practical Performance      

Unarmed Security Officer/Guard Requirements for the State of Tennessee Class cost: $55.00 (2 hours) Training to renw a Tennessee certified unarmed security registration includes an examination covering specific subject materials.
